Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0077602A1] A method and apparatus for maintaining a determinate operational state for a controller (12) is provided that involves supplying an input voltage to the controller (12) via a main power supply (16) and periodically supplying a voltage step pulse to the controller (12) in addition to the input voltage being supplied to the controller (12) by the main power supply (16) so that the voltage step pulse does not affect the controller's operational state when that state is determinate and so that the voltage step pulse will cause the controller (12) to enter a reset mode when the state is indeterminate because of a low input voltage level being supplied via the main power supply (16). The voltage step pulse is continuously and periodically supplied to the controller (12) via a low voltage reset circuit (10) regardless of the voltage level being supplied to the controller (12) via the main power supply (16).
