Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19929877A1] The invention relates to an actuation device for an electrohydraulic braking system of the brake-by- wire type. Said actuation device is configured as a tandem master cylinder whose first and second piston is pre-stressed by respective readjusting springs against the direction of actuation. The readjusting spring that is allocated to the first piston simultaneously serves as a travel simulator spring that determines the pedal characteristics. A valve device blocks or releases a hydraulic connection between a pressure chamber (4) that receives the travel simulator spring and a pressure fluid reservoir (6). The aim of the invention is to ensure that only a short idle travel must be covered if the external braking system fails. To this end, the valve device is closed by a movement of the second piston (3) vis-à-vis the housing (50) of the tandem master cylinder. Also, the valve device is made up of a packing collar (12) that is located on the second piston (3) and a channel (16) that is configured in the range of movement of said packing collar (12), said channel communicating with the pressure fluid reservoirs (6).
