[origin: WO0104180A1] Metal cyanide catalysts are prepared in the presence of an organic polyacid. Active alkylene oxide polymerization catalysts are formed that have larger particle sizes than conventional metal cyanide catalysts, and thus are more easily separated from a polymer prepared with the catalyst. Preferred organic polyacids are crosslinked or uncrosslinked polymers containing pendant carboxyl or carboxylate groups.
