Method for producing at least one strand (43, 44) of tobacco comprises feeding tobacco fibers to at least one air-permeable strand conveyor (7, 8), holding them in place using suction air, almost completely removing the dust contained in the suction air, dividing the dust into a coarse and a fine fraction, recycling the coarse fraction to the tobacco strand, and feeding the fine fraction to a central dust extractor. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Bilden eines Tabakstranges (43, 44). Um den groben Staub (50, 51) aus der Abluft zurückzugewinnen, wird der gesamte Staub (47) aus der Abluft abgeschieden und einem luftdurchlässigen Strangförderer (7, 8) zugeführt, auf welchem der Tabakstrang (43, 44) aufgeschauert wird. Durch den teilweise aufgeschütteten Tabakstrang (43, 44) und den Strangförderer (7, 8) wird eine grobe Fraktion (50, 51) des Staubes zurückgehalten und in den Tabakstrang (43, 44) integriert, währen eine feine Fraktion (52, 53) des Staubes durch den Tabakstrang (43, 44) und den Strangförderer (7, 8) hindurchtritt und separat abgesaugt wird. <IMAGE>
