[origin: EP1197244A2] The device (1) has at least one filter (6) in an air channel (26), a fan (5) with a motor (20) driving a vane wheel (19) controled by a sensor (3), an energy source and an electronic control circuit (7) controling the fan power. The sensor is a volume or mass flow sensor mounted in the air channel that is independent of the fan and is controled by the fan's control circuit so that the breathing air flow remains essentially constant.
