Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1197627A1] Drive for doors, especially garage doors, comprises door rollers (18) arranged on each side of the moving part of the door and guided in fixed rails (16), and a drive unit (24) consisting of at least one motor (26) and one gear. Two opposite-rotating drive shafts on which rope rollers (28, 30) are arranged lead out of the drive unit. A rope (38) with two free ends (40, 42) is wound on each rope roller. To open or close the door the door rollers or the door edges interact with the ropes so that the rotation of the rope rollers is transferred to the door rollers or edges. Preferred Features: The drive unit is arranged on the door leaf of a swing door or on a segment, preferably the uppermost segment, of a sectional door, or is fixed e.g. to the garage roof.
