In a process for increasing the hydrophobicity of microfibers in a fleece containing polyolefin, polyester or polyamide microfibers with an average diameter of 1-10 mu m, which contain 0.5-10 wt.% firmly embedded filler particles to impart hydrophobicity, the novelty is that the microfibers are produced with an average diameter at most 1.0 times that of the filler particles.

Die Erfindung betrifft die Herstellung von flüssigkeitsabweisenden Mikrofaservliesstoffen unter Zusatz einer hydrophobierenden, oberflächenaktiven Substanz, kurz OAS, mittels des Schmelzblasverfahrens. Bei erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Mikrofaservliesstoffen, liegen die OAS zwangsläufig an der Oberfläche, da der mittlere Faserdurchmesser der Fasermatrix (1) dem mittleren Durchmesser der als Füllstoffpartikel (2) einbrachten OAS angepasst ist; Der mittlere Faserdurchmesser der Fasermatrix (1) ist geringer, als der mittlere Durchmesser der Füllstoffpartikel (2).
