[origin: EP1066785A1] A mechanical device (100) for controlling time-dependent processes is based on a triggering and switching rocker (6), which can pivot about an axle (7). Said rocker is held against a counter-element (11) by a spring (17), which is loaded for a predetermined interval by means of a time mechanism (8; 9). The device (100) is loaded by means of a rotating toothed wheel (2), which rotates an ellipsoid toothed wheel (5) engaging in the same about 90 DEG , so that the time mechanism (8; 9) is pressed against the counter-piece (11) in direction (c). The pivoting movement deactivates a connected driven element (14) at the same time. As the toothed wheel (2) rotates further, the ellipsoid toothed wheel (5) tilts through 90 DEG again. The triggering and switching rocker (6) remains in a meshed position until the time mechanism (8; 9) has run through the predetermined interval. Once this predetermined interval has passed, the triggering and switching rocker (6) pivots back into the starting position in direction (o). The connected gear elements (12; 14) re-engage with each other. The invention is particularly suitable for use in manually operated towel dispensers.
