[origin: EP1201557A2] The U-profiled sheet metal locking ring for the lid of a container has a locking lever (4) pivoted at one end (5) on one end (6) of the ring A connector (9) is mounted on a second pivot (7) near the center of the lever and fits over the other end (8) of the ring. A tooth (12) on this fits through a slot (11) in the connector and inwardly facing rims (17) on the connector are pressed against the ring after it is fastened in place. A splint (19) is inserted into the lever to lock it.
