Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0076637A1] A process for removing nitrogen oxides from a gas stream containing nitrogen oxides and oxygen involves bringing the gas stream into contact with a reducing gas stream in the presence of a deNOx catalyst. The reducing gas stream contains CO, H2 and, optionally, NH3; it is produced by reacting hydrocarbons with the oxygen from the above mentioned nitrogen oxide- and oxygen-containing gas stream. A catalyst, such as an oxidising or stream-reforming catalyst may be used to promote the reaction which produces the reducing gas stream.
