Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0102902A1] A liquid crystal display (400) is described which is suitable for use with a wide range of liquid crystal materials. A liquid crystal (440) on silicon display includes a semiconductor device (430) which is configured such that the charge associated with individual pixels (436) is maintained, and hence liquid crystal materials (and other components of the display) with low charge-hold ratios (CHR) may be used. The semiconductor device comprises, for example, a static random access memory device (SRAM), for example, a six-transistor (6-T) SRAM.
