[origin: DE19939986A1] The invention relates to a device for production of a molded tire blank using a tire production machine provided with a tire carcass drum (1). Said tire carcass drum has a stationary drum middle part (6) and is provided with two axially movable drum side parts (7, 8). The molded tire blank is at least temporarily formed by at least one inflatable cushion (31). Two molded tire blank cores are at least temporarily supported in the axial direction by an expander device (34). An undivided ring-shaped fixing element made of an elastic, shapeable material is utilized as an expander device. The part of the fixing element which faces away from the drum middle section is positioned pointing towards the drum middle section and is transverse to the longitudinal axis during an operational movement towards the drum side part. Elastic homogeneous deformation of said fixing element occurs at least in sections of said element during the positioning of the fixing element.
