The procedure, using a bag or sleeve (18) of a thermo-shrink plastic, consists of drawing the sleeve down over the palleted load (CH) with clamps (54) holding its end open, heating the sleeve with hot air from a shrinking frame (39) which descends over its sides while inflating it with a blower (24) to prevent creasing. The lower edge of the sleeve is then sealed to a mat (16) between the load and pallet (14) as the shrinking frame reaches the end of its travel once air trapped inside the sleeve has been sucked out, using the blower (24) in a reverse mode. Any surplus material from the lower edge of the sleeve is held against the four corners of the pallet prior to sealing and fastened to the pallet to give extra mechanical strength. Frames or arms carrying the sleeve clamps, heaters and sleeve, forming rollers slide on uprights.

Un procédé de houssage et de thermoscellage d'une housse 18 ou gaine souple en matière plastique thermorétractable sur une charge CH palettisée consiste à thermosceller l'extrémité de la gaine au tapis de sol 16 en fin de course du cadre de rétraction 39 après avoir aspiré l'air emprisonné dans la housse 18. Le film de la housse (18) reste tendu sur les quatre faces par les moyens de préhension durant la course du cadre de rétraction (39), et le surplus de périmètre à l'extrémité de la gaine 18 est reporté localement contre les quatre coins de la palette 14 avant le thermoscellage. Ce procédé permet d'assurer la rétraction du film sur le même poste réservé au houssage, de maintenir la housse 18 en prise avec les pinces 54 ayant réalisé le houssage de la charge CH palettisée, et d'éviter les plis en créant un haubanage après le thermoscellage, de manière à renforcer la résistance mécanique à la base de la housse étanche. <IMAGE>
