[origin: WO0103040A1] A system and method for purchasing and provisioning admittance to entertainment events to a customer utilizes a data communication network. These entertainment events include one or a combination of sporting events, movies, theatre events, open-seating events, or reserved-seating events. The method includes receiving a communication from the event customer which includes an order to obtain admittance to at least one entertainment event (2404). In addition, the communication also includes an identifier associated with an identification device (2446). An account associated with the identifier is then updated to reflect the order (2408). The account is accessed by utilizing the identifier stored in the identification device at the point of sale system upon presentation of the identification device to verify the order (2440). Upon verification of the order at the point of sale system, the event customer is admitted to the entertainment event (2448).
