Abstract (en)

[origin: DE10107579A1] The two press jaws (6) combine to form the closed press. The play gap (29) between the non-contacting ends (26) of the press inserts (7) lies opposite to the contacting ends (25) of these inserts. The press has jaws which are pivotally connected to each other, each jaw having a press insert. The area of the press where the jaw and insert cooperate has a segment-shaped geometry, the insert being movable relative to the jaw in the peripheral direction of this area. During the compression stage two ends of the inserts come into contact with each other, whilst a play gap remains between the other two ends. Independent claims are also included for (a) a press with pivotally interconnected jaws provided with inserts, the area where the jaw and insert cooperate having a segment-shaped geometry, where the inserts are releasably fixed into position by a ratchet mechanism, (b) a segment-shaped press insert with an inner section having a first curvature and a tongue section having a second curvature, which in the unstressed state projects inwards over the inner section with the first curvature, and (c) a segment-shaped press insert with two holes (18) in its periphery for receiving retaining journals (16, 17).
