[origin: EP1209272A1] A sequin head (11) for an embroidery machine has a feed (17) of sequin ribbon (19) passing over an articulated (27) drive rod. individual sequins (61) are detached from the ribbon (19) by a blade (47) which engages on the drive rod mantle curve. The mantle curve is shaped such that the blade shear action operates when the drive rod passes through the dead point, at which point there is practically no motion. The operation is synchronised by the mechanical arrangement of an alternating clutch drive. The sequin head has a pneumatic control unit with a piston return spring regulating the clutch lever and drive. The ribbon feed has a ratchet wheel engaging with a ratchet on the drive rod. Sequin dispensers may be mounted side-by-side. The arrangement minimises the time window for feed and separation.
