[origin: EP1209342A2] The system (10) controls fuel delivery to cylinders (26-36) depending on control signals fed to a fuel delivery unit by a control unit that generates the signals. The control unit (40) has a cut-off mode in which it determines an ignition value per cylinder dependent on its ignition quality, compares it with a threshold value and cuts off fuel delivery only to the cylinder or cylinders for which the comparison indicates incomplete combustion). Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of controlling fuel delivery.
