[origin: FR2816991A1] The silencer, designed to be mounted between an air or fluid intake pipe (1) and an outlet pipe (2), consists of a main hollow cylindrical housing (3) with intake and outlet couplings (4, 4') of smaller cross-section than the housing, and an inner partition which forms at least two toroid chambers (9, 10) inside the housing. The component (8) forming the partition has a transverse wall (12) between inner (11) and outer (13) cylindrical sections, the first in line with the intake and outlet pipes, and the second acting as a reinforcement for the housing's cylindrical wall. A variant of the design can have a second partition forming a third toroid chamber.
