[origin: WO0112536A1] The invention relates to a device for winding and unwinding a cable (7) of a cable winch comprising a cable advance assembly (9) in order to tension the cable (7) between the cable winch and the cable advance assembly (9). Said cable advance assembly is mounted in front of the cable winch and can be driven in a trailing or leading manner with regard to the cable winch. In order to create advantageous constructional conditions, the invention provides that the cable advance assembly (9) is comprised of two intermeshing toothed wheels (10, 11) that form spur wheels and whose teeth (14) have an accommodating recess (15) which, starting from the tooth tip, tapers toward the tooth base, and which is provided for the cable (7) guided between both toothed wheels (10, 11). The invention also provides that both toothed wheels (10, 11) can be pressed against one another in the engagement area by spring action.
