Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0114715A1] The invention relates to a injector (18), especially for controlling the injection of fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The injector has a closing member (30) which is subjected to the hydraulic action of an actuating device (44, 52, 54). Said actuating device has a valve body (54) which is movably guided in a control channel (44) and which is actuated by a piezoelectric actuator (52). The valve body interacts with two control cross-sections (68, 70) located one behind the other, in order to control the pressure means connections between a high pressure supply channel (24) and a discharge channel (46). The first control cross-section (68) in the direction of actuation of the valve body (54) therefor forms a seat valve (51) with said valve body (54) and the second control cross-section (70) in the direction of actuation forms a sliding valve (71). A throttle gap (72) also forms between the valve body (54) and the wall of the second control cross-section (70) when said valve body is extended out to the maximum. This throttle gap determines the pressure ratios in the injector (18) and therefor the injection quantity per time unit.
