[origin: EP1211344A1] A washing machine having a continuous water level (CWL) sensor connected to a microprocessor comprises a comparator which compares the value from the CWL sensor with a predetermined threshold value, such comparator acting independently and/or in parallel with the microprocessor. In case of total or partial failure of the microprocessor, the above system guarantees that the water level in the tub does not go under or upper the minimum and maximum value respectively. <IMAGE>
