Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0064311A1] According to the invention, the padding of a seat or a reclining piece of furniture is provided with a desorbent moisture accumulator in the form of a hydrophilic layer which absorbs the bodily moisture from the user in a reversible manner. A known chemical superabsorber is used to form the hydrophilic layer. Said hydrophilic layer consists of an interwoven support material containing individual fibres, or an open-pored plastic foam and the superabsorber which is polymerised onto the support material. The fibres of the interwoven material are thus at least proportionally coated by the superabsorber. As an alternative, the hydrophilic layer can also consist solely of a foamed superabsorber. The specific advantages of this padding are improved seating comfort and the ability of the superabsorber to remain attached to the support material, even at a high level of moisture saturation, in a gelled state. In addition, a spatially more favourable distribution is achieved, providing a substantially enlarged absorbent surface.
