[origin: DE19941039A1] The invention relates to a method for identifying specific gamma -secretase inhibitors which can be used for treating neuro-degenerative diseases, in particular to a method which can be carried out in vitro. The invention also relates to a test kit which can be used for said method, in addition to the use of this test kit or method to identify substances which specifically inhibit gamma -secretase. A further embodiment relates to the use of these substances to produce a medicament for treating neuro-degenerative diseases and to pharmaceutical formulations which contain said substances.
