[origin: EP1213070A2] Metal casting process comprises continuously measuring the filling level in the filling pipe in the post-filling phase of a melting furnace; and holding the metal meniscus at a level in the pipe corresponding to the level of the outlet region on the casting mold side for the duration of the post-filling process. An Independent claim is also included for a metal casting device, comprising a melting furnace (2) containing a metal bath (4), a riser pipe (6) immersed in the metal bath to convey the molten metal to the casting mold (8), a filling pipe immersed in the bath, a sensor (24) for measuring the melt condition in the filling pipe, and a gas pressure regulating system (16).
