[origin: EP1213254A1] The telescopic jib (1), for a self-propelled mobile crane, has a base box unit (2) containing the telescopic jib sections (3,4). To avoid the use of cable winches at the jib support tensioners, the leading support (9) incorporates a tensioner unit (17) which is composed of a number of interconnected cable sections of fixed lengths. The lengths are set to match the extension of the jib so that, as a jib section is extended in discrete length sections, a given number of tensioner cable lengths are brought into use.
