[origin: EP1213382A2] In a process to manufacture an open-ended textile spinning rotor (1), the formed but unpainted rotor is first masked (7, 8) with re-usable plastic covers or paint based on organic solvents. The organic plastic used in the cover plates is especially compatible with the paint used to finish the rotor. The organic paint is based on an acrylic, phenol, or epoxy resin or similar, or a combination. Prior to painting, the fibre collection groove is protected by a mask. Paint is applied to the rotor plate inner surface by immersion or spray. The plastic cover plates or paint is removed during the final-stage surface finishing process.
