[origin: EP1213441A1] The outer pipe (12) can deform along its axis and the end abutted drillrods (14) meet flat regardless of drillrod angles. Each drill rod bears against the pipe over short parts only and at their contact points the rods are ported or recessed for a flushing medium. At their abutment, the drillrods meet as convex and concave as ball of rod diameter and cup, with the flushing ports arranged in the radially directed part of the ball. The foremost rod end abuts a drillbit (32) or drillhead (2), the bit composed of shaft (34) whose outside toothing (35) engages the inside toothing (36) of the outer pipe (12). Rotary power is transmitted through the rods by connectors composed of end recess and pin in respective drillrod endfaces.
