The device has main and auxiliary contact points, the main one with a spark quenching chamber in which the spark base point is fed to a quenching packet and then to spark rails near an outer plate of the packet. A rail connecting the auxiliary contact point to a terminal is parallel to the spark rail (19) at least near the quenching packet and is separated from it by a wall. The spark and auxiliary rails have different separation distances related to the longitudinal lateral edges of the quenching plate or the broad side walls of the breaker. Es wird ein Leitungsschutzschalter mil einer Haupt- und einer Nebenkontaktstelle beschrieben, bei denen die Hauptkontaktstelle ein feststehendes und ein bewegliches Kontaktstück (17, 16), eine Lichtbogenlöschkammer (20) mit einem Lichtbogenlöschblechpaket (21) aufweist, in welches ein bei einer Schalthandlung entstehende Lichtbogen einläuft. Dabei sind die Lichtbogenfußpunkte über Lichtbogenleitschienen dem Lichtbogenlöschblechpaket (21) zuführbar. Die Lichtbogenleitschiene übernimmt den Lichtbogenfußpunkt, der am beweglichen Kontaktstück entsteht, und ist im Bereich eines äußeren Lichtbogenlöschbleches des Lichtbogenlöschblechpaketes angeordnet. Die Nebenkontaktstelle ist mit einer Schiene mit einer Anschlußklemme verbunden und verläuft etwa parallel zur Lichtbogenleitschiene und ist von dieser durch eine Trennwand (27 a) getrennt. Die Lichtbogenleitschiene (19) und die Nebenkontaktstellenschiene (28) verlaufen wenigstens im Bereich des Lichtbogenlöschblechpaketes (21) parallel und weisen unterschiedliche Abstände bezogen auf die Längsseitenkanten der Löschbleche bzw. die Breitseitenwände des Leitungsschutzschalters auf. <IMAGE>
