[origin: WO0149372A1] The invention relates to a fire-retardant and optionally fire-extinguishing device which essentially consists of a container (2) that is filled with water or another non-inflammable liquid. Said device releases the liquid under the influence of heat into the environment, optionally using a valve (3) and is intended and suitable for use in diverse safety devices, for example for installing in doors (1) or walls. The inventive device also has excellent thermal insulation and soundproofing properties.
