Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19939936A1] The invention relates to a device for monitoring and wirelessly signalising a pressure or a change in pressure in tyres of wheels (1) on vehicles (2). The inventive device consists of a receiver (9) which is provided in or on the vehicle (1). At least one antenna (6, 7) pertains to the receiver. The inventive device also consists of a device (3), hereafter referred to as wheel electronics , for measuring, evaluating and transmitting tyre pressure signals. The wheel electronics are arranged in the tyre and contain a battery (24) acting as the source of electricity, a pressure sensor which measures the pressure prevailing in the tyre, an evaluation circuit which evaluates the measured pressure signals that are provided for by the pressure sensor and a transmitter (21) which is controlled by means of the evaluation circuit. Said device transmits signals which contain information on the pressure in the tyre and/or on the state of the wheel electronics (3) to the receiver (9). The wheel electronics (3) is activated at distances of time (T0) for a period of time (T1) that is shorter than said distances of time (T0) and otherwise remains in an electricity-saving state.
