[origin: WO0072214A1] A method of processing reservation deposits provides for classifying prospective visitors to an event (11, 13, and 15) and the accommodations available for reservation to the visitors. Attendee attrition is minimized by assigning dates prior to the start of the event for processing of credit card authorizations, collection of deposits, and full or partial refunds for cancellations. An increasing scale of penalties is applied between the processing fee date and a cancellation close date after which deposits are entirely forfeited upon cancellation. Business rules may be applied to the reservation, collection and cancellation payment process as a function of the classes of attendees and the accommodations.
