[origin: EP1215295A1] Hardenable aluminum cast alloy contains alloying additions of 5-10 wt.% silicon, 0.2-0.35 wt.% magnesium, 0.3-3 wt.% nickel and/or 0.6-3 wt.% cobalt. An Independent claim is also included for a component made from the aluminum alloy. Preferably the aluminum alloy contains alloying additions of 6.5-7.5 wt.% silicon, 0.2-0.35 wt.% magnesium, 0.5-2.5 wt.% nickel and/or 0.6-3 wt.% cobalt.
