[origin: WO0123114A2] The invention relates to a roll stand for rolling strips, especially metal strips, comprising a first stand part (2) and a second stand part (3), whereby at least one of the stand parts (2) is mounted on at least one guide element (4) along which it can be displaced, by an adjusting device (17), relative to the other stand part (3) in order to adjust the roll gap between the working rolls of the roll stand. According to the inventive roll stand, a change of the relative position of the stand parts which is unhindered by the occurring roll tensile forces and strip tensile forces is made possible by virtue of the fact that the bearing on the guide element (4) is provided in the form of a hydrostatic bearing (14).
