Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19945760A1] The invention relates to a testing system which can be used to test whether an object which is composed of at least one part is of a given source of origin. The object is provided with at least one marking which can be identified by an identification system. Once the identification system has identified the marking, said marking is compared with the characteristics which individualise the source of origin of the object. The object can be assigned a first random marking, and thereafter, at least one additional marking derived from a series of continuous markings. The markings can be spatially allocated in relation to each other in a successive and predetermined manner. The allocation of markings can vary according to a predetermined pattern. The random marking can be generated by a random generator. In a method for testing for a given source of origin of an object composed of several parts, each part is given a marking different from those of the others. The various markings have a known dependency relationship in respect to one another, for which each object can be tested.
