Abstract (en)
The method consists of projecting onto the surface of a vitreous material (6), by means of a pressurized gas (17), particles of a hard material able to form protuberances in the surface which give it a satin appearance. The edges of the protuberances are taken off by an additional projection of particles with a lower hardness than the first. An independent claim is included for a machine providing a satin finish.

La présente invention concerne le satinage mécanique de la surface d'une matière vitreuse (6), selon lequel on projette sur ladite surface, au moyen d'un gaz propulseur sous pression (17), des particules d'une matière de dureté élevée aptes à former dans ladite surface des aspérités donnant à celle-ci un aspect satiné. Conformément à la présente invention, on émousse lesdites aspérités par une projection supplémentaire (19) de particules d'une matière de dureté inférieure à celle de la matière desdites particules formant lesdites aspérités. Grâce à l'invention, on obtient un satinage de qualité comparable à celui obtenu chimiquement. <IMAGE>
