[origin: DE10052774A1] The plate cylinder (1) has a plate cylinder duct axial positioned in relation to it and containing a front clamping rail (31) holding the front edge of the printing plate (21,22), and containing a back clamping rail (32) for holding the back edge of the printing plate. A bar-shaped element in the form of an insertion shaft (4) rotating on its axis extends parallel with the plate cylinder duct. A holder, in the form of a cut-out segment (41) in the insertion shaft, for the front edge of the fresh printing plate extends the entire width of the format. A pressure element in the form of a pressure roller (5) conveying the used printing plate is placed against the duct.
