Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1219737A1] Following interruption of a spinning process, a new section of fibre is joined to an existing section by overlapping end sections. The incoming fibre is first drawn out (L.2) and presented to the existing drawn out terminal section (L.1) of prior thread (4) in the spinning machine in a synchronised action. Also claimed is a spinning machine has a spinning point at which the fibre feed is first drawn out, twisted and discharged as yarn. If the process is interrupted e.g. because of a thread break, the fibre drawing out process is halted at the drawing out inlet. The yarn (11) free end is drawn out, tapered, positioned prior to the twist unit. When the spinning process resumes, the movement of the incoming fibre is synchronised with that of the yarn (1) causing the two sections to overlap and combine.
