The railing for stairs, balconies and similar building elements is characterized by the following facts: a) the handrail is made up of straight sections (54.1, ...) of round bars joined to one another by connector units (72) with elements capable of being set at any angle relative to one another; b) the posts (60) are located directly before and after each connector unit; c) the railing elements (74) take the form of cables stretched between posts (60). Also claimed is a vertically adjustable structure for such posts.

Eine Geländervorrichtung (70) mit Handlaufabschnitten (54.1,54.2,54.3,54.4), die als insbesondere gerade Rundprofilstäbe ausgebildet sind, wobei im Bereich eines horizontalen, vertikalen oder räumlichen Knicks zwischen benachbarten Handlaufabschnitten (54.1,...) eine Verbindungseinrichtung (72) angeordnet, die zwei unter einem beliebigen Winkel einstellbare Verbindungselemente, insbesondere Halbkugelelemente, aufweist, an die die jeweiligen Handlaufabschnitte (54.1,...) angeschlossen sind, und die Geländerelemente (74) als zwischen der im jeweiligen Endbereich eines Handlaufabschnittes (54.1,...) vorhandenen Geländerpfosteneinrichtung (60) verspannbare Seile (74) oder Scheibenelemente (101) ausgebildet sind. <IMAGE>
