[origin: WO0128903A1] The invention relates to a method for forming groups of sheets from a large number of sheets. According to said method, two sheets at a time are first prepared. The sheets are transferred onto a common sheet track. If the prepared sheets belong to the same group of sheets, they are fed into a collating station (108). If they belong to different groups, one of the sheets is fed into the collating station (108) and the remaining sheet is retained in a holding point (106).
