[origin: US2002092537A1] A mixture of long and short tobacco particles is sifted in the hopper of a cigarette maker to segregate the short particles from the long particles. The long particles are converted into a continuous stream and the short particles are gathered into a series of discrete, preferably metered, batches which are heterogeneously distributed in longitudinally spaced apart portions of the stream. The latter is thereupon converted into a rod-like filler which is draped into a web of cigarette paper or other wrapping material to form therewith a continuous tobacco-containing rod. The rod is severed between successive batches or successive groups of batches so that each discrete cigarette contains at least one batch of short tobacco particles.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Bilden eines Tabakstranges (110) für die Herstellung von stabförmigen Artikeln der tabakverarbeitenden Industrie aus unterschiedlich langen Tabakfasern, mit einer Trenneinrichtung (27) zum Trennen von Kurztabak (78) und längeren Tabakfasern, mit einem ersten Zuförderer (27,32,34,40,46,48,58,62,54) zum Fördern der längeren Tabakfasern zu einem Strangförderer (4), und mit einem zweiten Zuförderer (70,76,82) zum Fördern des Kurztabaks (78) zu dem Strangförderer. Die Erfindung zeichnet sich dadurch aus, daß der zweite Zuförderer eine Vereinigungseinrichtung (82) aufweist, die den Kurztabak mit den längeren Tabakfasern im Bereich einer Strangbildungszone des Strangförderers derart vereinigt, daß der Kurztabak in Längsrichtung des so gebildeten Tabakstranges (110) heterogen verteilt ist. <IMAGE>
