Abstract (en)
A chair or stool, such as a music stool or piano stool (10), has a frame or base part (11) and a seat part (12), which is supported on the base part by means of adjustable supporting means (18,19), such as a linkage system or a screw/nut device (18,19). Moving means (21-23,24,25), which may be manually operated or driven by means of an electric motor, may adjust the level or vertical height of the seat part. Biasing means, such as pre-tensioned compression springs (30), are provided for biasing the seat part (12) in an upwards direction, so as to counterbalance at least a substantial part of the weight of a grown-up person sitting on the seat part. This allows the user to adjust the vertical height of the seat part while the user is sitting thereon. <IMAGE>
