[origin: EP1224982A2] The paint application device includes a droplet catching tray which is mounted self-holding on the handle(3) by friction forces overcome by hand. A tubular connector on the tray which fits over the handle has a preferably elastic tapered section which may be formed by a conical narrowing neck(10) in the rear end region. The connector has axially parallel slots(11) in the region of the neck, and in this region an annular spring(13) encompasses the connector.
