Abstract (en)
The invention relates to covered rollers comprising air channels and a method for covering a roller having substantially a cylindrical outer surface and a longitudinal axis, with a covering material such as an elastomer e.g. rubber or polyurethane, comprising the steps of: optionally removing of any old covering material, attaching at least an air channel on the outer face of the roller, such that at least an end of said air channel is able to be connected to an air supply, optionally cleaning the attached air channels and outer surface of the roller, applying one or more bonding agents to said air channels and outer surface, applying the elastomer on the outer surface of the roller such that at least the attached parts of the air channel are covered with said elastomer, allowing vulcanisation or curing of the elastomer, and performing a finishing step of the covered roller.
