Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0136309A1] The invention relates to a method for storing and distributing sheet-type objects, in particular bank notes, via at least one taut storage belt on or from a storage reel. According to said method, at least one belt tensioning operation (F1-F3) is carried out at periodic intervals between the storage or distribution cycles using an increased belt tension in relation to the fundamental belt tension. Said operation tightens the belt wound on the storage reel, tightly securing the objects in the wound belt, in order to increase the capacity of said storage reel and preferably to give the wound belt greater mechanical stability, so that it remains laterally stable, in particular even when proportionately full. The belt tensioning operation is preferably carried out in a pulsed manner with a repetition frequency in the Hertz range and a mark space ratio of effective securing force to a base nominal value of between 0.2 and 2.0, preferably in the region of 1.0.
