Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1230995A2] Process for manufacturing longitudinal seam-welded pipes comprises drawing a metal strip (2) through several consecutively arranged drawing dies (8, 9, 10, 11) of decreasing diameter in the production direction. The metal strip is increasingly rounded in the peripheral direction in each of the drawing dies and the open seam tube produced is directly closed before the welding point in a final molding stage (15). An Independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing the above pipes. Preferred Features: The drawing dies are made of hard metal, ceramic or diamond. The welding is carried out using laser.
