Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1231356A2] Ladder comprises rungs arranged between two parallel side rails (11, 12), a lower stand part having two feet forming bearing points, and a leveling device. The leveling device consists of a curved bar (14) which is moved along a curve relative to the side rails, and a clamping device (20) attached to the lowermost rung (13) adjacent to the curved bar for fixing the curved bar in the desired position. The clamping device is designed so that the clamping force acts on the curved bar from the side, i.e. horizontally /at the periphery, when the ladder is upright. Preferred Features: The clamping device consists of two similar halves pressed together by an operating element and forming a holder for the curved bar. The curved bar moves freely within the released clamping device and is held in the clamping position by the clamping force when the device is activated.
