[origin: EP1231366A1] The component for a car exhaust comprises a blank (1) with a thick central section (11) and thinner edges (10). This is pressed to form half-shells for a noise-damping sleeve or catalytic unit or is bent to form e.g. a connector. Independent claims are included for: (a) a rolling machine for making the blank with two profiled rollers (16, 17); and (b) a method for making a component for a car exhaust, as described above.
