A cooling apparatus (3) for the cooling water of a ship's engine, comprising cooling tubes (13) through which the cooling water can be conducted, a tube plate (12) on which the cooling tubes (13) are mounted, and at the side of the tube plate (12) facing away from the cooling tubes (13) a water header (11), which water header comprises connecting stubs (9,10) for the inlet and outlet of the cooling water, wherein a rack (15) is mounted integrated in the cooling apparatus at the nose end (14) of the cooling tubes, at a distance from the tube plate (12), comprising a cathode (16) and at least one copper anode (17,18). <IMAGE>
