Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0141986A1] A sawing station for sawing a log into planks comprises a log sawing bench (1). The sawing bench is movable in its longitudinal direction parallel with a stationary sawing device (22) and is provided with log fastener devices (5, 7, 9; 6, 8, 10; 35, 36; 39, 40; 50, 51) in connection with the end surfaces of the log. At least one of the fastener devices (9; 35, 36) can be adjusted along the length of the sawing bench so as to adapt to logs (2) of differing lengths. The fastener devices can be adjusted to adjust the position of the log transversely to the longitudinal axis of the table and are displaceable transversely to the longitudinal axis of said table so as to be able to displace the log secured in the fastener devices over one longitudinal side edge of the bench through a distance determined by an operator. A fastener device locking means (7', 8'; 35') locks the fastener devices when saw cuts are made. The sawing bench (1) can be swung about a longitudinally extending axis (A-A) and locked in angular positions in which planks of desired triangular cross-section can be cut from a sawn-off plank that has a substantially semicircular cross-section. The invention also relates to a method of using the sawing bench.
