Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0140530A1] The invention refers to a metallic product containing one or several of the metals chromium, aluminium, silicon, and/or titanium in such large amount that said metal or metals form a corrosion protective oxide layer on the metal surface in an oxidising atmosphere and a procedure to manufacture the product. The characteristic of the invention is that the metallic product at least in a layer next to the metal surface contains more than 0,5 weight ppm hydrogen and at the same time more than a total of 0,01 weight % of one or several of the elements that in their elementary form and/or as oxides have the ability to efficiently dissociate oxigen in the boundary between the oxide layer of the product and the surrounding gas phase, here referred to oxygen dissociating elements, ODE, and which belong to the following group of metals, that is rare earth metals, here referred to as REM, i.e. yttrium and elements with the atomic numbers 57-71, and scandium, hafnium, zirconium, niobium, tantalum, titanium, paladium, platinum, and rhodium.
